Comedy Party-Open Mike Night!

Comedy Party Decorations:

In a spacious room, arrange the furniture so that some area is cleared for a "stage." Set up a chair on stage; choose one that is easy to move out of the way if necessary. Arrange the rest of the room either in rows, like a theater, or in small groupings, like a coffeehouse.

Comedy Party Food:

Light refreshments are really all that's needed since most people will be coming for the show. Offer plenty of beverages and complement with some snacks like chips and vegetables with dips, nuts and pretzels. If you want to add something more substantial, try serving chicken wings, potato skins and nachos.

Comedy Party Activities:

Open Mike

Invite several friends to show off their talents: singing, dancing, performing stand-up comedy or magic, or demonstrating any other trick or entertainment they can do. Find out how long each act will be (try and keep each person to about 15 minutes) and set a schedule so that you have a nice flow from one performance to another. Have two sets, each about 30-50 minutes. If you don't want to emcee yourself, enlist a friend to introduce each performer.

If you're feeling really inspired you can borrow, rent or buy a microphone, karaoke machine, or appropriate sound equipment. If you skip the equipment, keep the group small enough so that everyone will be able to hear.

Kids can join in too. Just make sure all the performances are appropriate for all ages!
