Syndrome’s Search
In this game, Mr. Incredible’s nemesis, Syndrome, is seeking out all Supers
to destroy them. So the Supers try not to be discovered. Select someone to
be Syndrome and blindfold him. Next, invite everyone to walk in a circle
around Syndrome until he points in someone’s direction and shouts, “Mr.
Incredible, reveal yourself!” The player who has been pointed at must
respond, in an undetectable voice, “I’m not Mr. Incredible!” Syndrome gets 3
guesses to determine who it really is. A correct guess means the players
switch places, transfer the blindfold and the game continues. An incorrect
guess means everyone starts again until Syndrome’s right. The game ends
after everyone’s had a turn to be Syndrome.
Freeze!
Remember how Frozone was almost caught by the police, when they mistook him
for a criminal? He tried to freeze them with his instant-ice touch, but
couldn’t because he was dehydrated. But with a drink of water, his Super
power came back. In this game of tag, kids get to play Frozone, villains and
the police.
You’ll need:
slip of paper per player, pen and a bowl
small drinking cups and a pitcher of room-temp. water
masking tape to label each cup with player’s name
To begin, set up an area for the water and cups. Next write “Frozone” on 1
slip of paper; then write “police” on half of the slips and “villain” on the
rest. Fold and mix up slips in a bowl. Invite kids to draw 1 to see what
part they will play. (Be sure to collect slips for future rounds.) When the
game starts, Frozone tries to catch the villains and the police. The
difference is, the police get to yell “dehydrated!” the first time they’re
caught. They go free, and Frozone has to go take a drink of water before
catching anyone else. (You’ll need someone to be the water pourer, keeping
cups ready at all times.) When police are caught a second time, and villains
are caught the first time, they must freeze and cannot move until the end of
the round. The round’s done once everyone’s been caught, or at the end of a
prearranged time limit. (For very young children, play the game with Frozone
and villains only.)
Secret Identity
When people started suing the Supers for saving lives, families like The
Incredibles had to go “underground.” In this game, kids take on secret
identities too (silly ones)!
You’ll need:
music
large bag (or 2) filled with clothing, accessories and costume items (the
funnier, the better; try big clothes too!)
Invite players to stand in a circle. Turn on some music and ask kids to pass
around the bag(s). When you stop the music, the player holding the bag must
reach in, pull out an item and put it on. Game continues until all items are
gone. Take pictures of your Supers-in-hiding for their “files”!
Bowling Dash
This is a perfect game for an Incredibles party because when Bob (Mr.
Incredible) and Lucius (Frozone) secretly want to use their Super powers,
they say they’re going bowling.
You’ll need:
up to 24 empty plastic bottles (with caps)
sand or kitty litter
white paint and black magic marker
sticks or masking tape
2 balls (soccer or basketball)
Fill the empty bottles with sand or kitty litter and close tightly. Paint
the bottles white and use marker to draw a stripe around top portion of each
bottle. Find an area for 2 “bowling lanes,” where the ground is relatively
smooth, and outline areas with sticks or masking tape (approximately 10 feet
long). Assemble bottles into 2 pyramid shapes at end of the lanes. Guests
form 2 teams. Players then have 1 try to knock down pins with ball, and
total the score before the next teammate goes. (Bonus of 20 points for
knocking all down.) Other teammates help set bottles back up for the next
player. The goal is for players to knock down as many bottles as possible in
15 minutes. In the end, both teams win: 1st place “Incredible” award. And
2nd place “Dash” award (since Dash always comes in 2nd).
Best Villain Laugh
Stage a contest to see who has the most wicked, scariest, evilest laugh of
all villains. (Hint: it should sound something like moo-hoo-woo-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Or, enh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh-heh!)

Incredible Pizzas
Little heroes need their energy, and they’ll get healthy surges making their
own pizzas, marked with a Super “i” on top.
Ingredients:
spaghetti sauce and pita bread
toppings (grated cheese, pepperoni, pineapple, etc.)
cheese slices, cut to form “i” shapes
Enlist kids to decorate labels for topping containers with names like
“Super-strength Sauce,” “Power-enhancing Pepperoni” and “Elasti-cheese.” You
can even label an empty container “Invisible Olives” in honor of Violet’s
Super power. Preheat your oven to 350° F, while kids pick a pita circle,
spread on the sauce and load up the toppings. Finish off each pizza with a
large “i” cut from cheese slices. Bake until cheese is gooey.
Dash Wraps
Dash would love these. They’re fast to make, and perfect for growing
Supers-on-the-go.
Ingredients:
natural peanut butter
8 wheat tortillas
2 cups granola, 1 cup raisins and 2 chopped apples
Simply spread peanut butter on one side of tortillas, sprinkle on last 3
ingredients, roll-up tightly and dash! For added fun, buy extra granola,
raisins and apples, put them in separate bowls, and let kids make their own.
Serves 8.
Incredible Edible Play Clay
This modeling clay has a secret identity…it’s completely edible!
Ingredients:
10-oz. package chocolate chips
1/3 cup light corn syrup
You’ll also need waxed paper.
Pour chips into a microwaveable bowl. Heat in microwave and stir chocolate
at 30-second intervals until melted and smooth. Blend in corn syrup. Spread
mixture on waxed paper so it’s 1/2 inch thick. Cover with more waxed paper
and let set for 3-12 hours. Slice into portions for the kids to play with
and eat!
Frozone Fruit Treats
These treats will look like Frozone touched them.
Ingredients:
peeled and chopped bananas
tbsp. lemon juice in 1 quart water
whole berries of all kinds (fresh or frozen)
caramel and/or chocolate sauce
Dip bananas in lemon water and place in freezer bags. If berries are fresh,
rinse them clean, spread out on cookie sheets. Place all fruit in freezer
overnight. (Once berries are frozen, you can store them in containers or
plastic bags until the party.) Mix fruit together, serve in bowls and
drizzle with sauce(s).
Omnidroid Clusters
If you can’t beat Syndrome’s machines, eat ’em!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup corn syrup, 1/3 cup water, 1 cup sugar, 1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup butter, 1 tsp. vanilla
black food coloring (a few drops)
10 cups popped popcorn
black string licorice and small packet of M&Ms®
You’ll also need baking sheets and cellophane.
Combine corn syrup, water, sugar and salt in a saucepan. Cook over medium
heat, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves and mixture comes to a
strong boil. Remove from heat and whisk in butter and vanilla. Add food
coloring slowly to determine color. Pour mixture over popcorn and toss until
well coated. Spread on baking sheets. When cool enough to handle, form
popcorn balls, draping 3 pieces of string licorice across the center to
create 6 dangling strands. These will be the legs, but since Omnidroids only
have 5, cut off 1 strand once you’re done. (The birthday child probably
won’t object to eating extra licorice!) Push 1 M&M into top of ball to
create the “eye.” Carefully wrap balls in squares of cellophane and store in
a tightly closed container. Serves 10.
Super Sippers
Ingredients:
6-oz. frozen orange juice concentrate and 2 cups cherry juice
33.8-oz. bottle carbonated water
Stir first 2 ingredients together and chill. Just before serving, slowly
stir in carbonated water.
